Green building to offer space to Carbondale nonprofits

In response to exorbitant rental rates in the Roaring Fork Valley, Carbondale’s  3rd Street Center is leasing out space to nonprofits in the area at a reduced rate, according to an article in the Aspen Daily News.

“They’re getting priced out of the valley,” Andrea Korber of Land + Shelter, the design and real estate company that owns the building, said of area nonprofits. “This is no longer rural Carbondale. We’re a lot more like Aspen.”

The building is also unique in its use of green building materials and rooftop solar panels, which will enable it to produce almost half of its own energy and reduce operating costs, allowing it to offer reduced rents to local nonprofits.
