U.S. association heads gloomy about revenue

In a March 2009 survey by the ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership, about two-thirds of the 1,100 U.S. membership associations contacted said they believe the recession will hurt their organization’s revenue and see their membership dues drop.

According to the Philanthropy Journal article, association heads expect membership-related revenue to drop 13.4 percent in 2010, while overall revenue is expected to decline by 15.7 percent. Event revenue and charitable giving are expected to take the biggest hit, the report says.
